Step 5. Finding match funding - funding sources

Active Community Unit (Home Office)
Promotes an inclusive society in which people are actively involved in their communities; and works towards achieving a healthy voluntary sector able to work effectively in partnership with Government. Grants are provided for new initiatives for developing and championing active communities and for umbrella bodies in the voluntary and community sector. Arts Fund

BBC Children in Need

Carers' Support Grants

Carrick District Council

Comic Relief
Set up to help disadvantaged people by helping small, local organisations to increase awareness of the needs of disadvantaged people, give a voice to groups facing discrimination and encourage self-help and equality of opportunity. Community Fund (National Lottery)
We distribute money raised by the Lottery to support charities and voluntary groups. We also make grants to UK agencies working abroad. We give grants mainly to help meet the needs of those at greatest disadvantage in society, and also to improve the quality of life in the community. Community Investment Fund
Will support capital projects put forward by voluntary groups that enable local communities to participate more effectively in local regeneration. For information contact the South West RDA's Truro office on 01872 243750.

Competitiveness Development Fund
Helps projects promoting competitiveness that support the RDA's economic strategy. For information contact the South West RDA's Truro office on 01872 243750.

Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Community Fund
Provides grants of up to £1,000 for self-help projects and small economic projects prepared by community groups. Cornwall County Council

Cornwall County Playing Fields Association

Cory Environmental Trust

Countryside Trust
Provides grants of up to £5,000 to local voluntary groups and parish councils to promote conservation, preservation and restoration of the countryside. For information contact the Countryside Agency on 01242 521381.

County Environmental Trust
Redistributes money from landfill tax for environmental projects dealing with land reclamation, remediation of pollution, research & dissemination of information on waste management, public amenities and restoration of historic buildings. Duchy Benevolent Fund

East Cornwall Rural Transport Partnership

Foundation for Sports & the Arts

Healthy Living Small Grants Scheme

Heritage Lottery Fund
Offers grants for projects (minimum project size £5,000) that safeguard and enhance public access to land, buildings, items and collections of heritage interest. For information contact 0207 591 6000, email enquire@hlf.org.uk or see www.hlf.org.uk.

Isles of Scilly, Council of the

Innovative Cluster Fund
May be able to provide capital funding for organisations working in a cluster on Objective One projects that develop new and existing incubator sites and develop network facilities e.g. mentoring of start-ups. For information contact the South West RDA's Truro office on 01872 243750.

ITV Westcountry
Provides grants and donations within Westcountry region to encourage local and community initiatives, particularly to invite people to participate in and learn social, cultural and recreational skills. For information contact 01752 333333.

Kerrier District Council

Local Heritage Initiative
Provides grants of between £3,000 and £15,000 to help local groups explain and care for their local landscape, landmarks, traditions and culture. For information contact 0117 910 2919 or see www.lhi.org.uk

Millennium Festival Awards for All
Is a Lottery funding programme to help support local groups that involve people in the local community or which bring people together to enjoy arts, charities, sports and heritage activities and to fund projects which celebrate the Millennium. National Playing Fields Association

New Deal for Communities
Supports the intensive regeneration of some of our poorest neighbourhoods. The programme supports regeneration schemes that tackle problems such as poor job prospects, high levels of crimes, educational underachievement and poor health. New Opportunities Fund
Is a Lottery funded programme focussing on education, health and the environment. Current initiatives include out-of-school-hours childcare, Healthy Living Centres, green spaces and access to learning through IT. For information contact 0845 000 0121 or the see www.nof.org.uk

North Cornwall District Council

Parish and Town Councils

Pennon Environmental Trust
Is another fund created from landfill tax credits. For information contact 01392 446677.

Penwith District Council

Pirate Trust

Prince's Trust, The
Can support individuals, groups and established youth organisations, with a specific interest in overcoming disadvantage and promoting special talent. For information contact 01225 489931, or see www.princes-trust.org.uk.

Rapid Response Fund
Funding is available to partnerships engaged in the support of redundant workers. For information contact the South West RDA's Truro office on 01872 243750.

Reducing Burglary Initiative and Targeted Policing Initiative
Give grants to police forces and their local crime and disorder partners. Funds are to set up and run projects to tackle local crime problems, burglary in areas or communities suffering high levels of domestic burglary and other policing issues. Redundant Building Grants
Are available for projects in those rural areas in greatest need of additional employment opportunities. Grants are available for conversion and refurbishment of existing buildings to provide facilities for manufacturing, service businesses, office premises, tourism & leisure, and retail outlets. Restormel Borough Council

Rural Development Programme
Gives grants towards projects for environmental improvement schemes or community based projects, which have an economic benefit and will encourage private sector activity in the area concerned or redress social and economic disadvantage. Rural Initiatives Fund

Rural Transport Development Fund
Provides funds from the Countryside Agency of up to 50% of start-up costs for new public transport services. For information contact the Countryside Agency on 0117 910 2900, email info.southwest@countryside.gov.uk or see www.countryside.gov.uk.

Sainsbury's Community Affairs Programme
Supports local groups and organisations in the areas where it trades via fundraising, donations, sponsorship, volunteering and employee secondments. For information contact 0800 636262 or the local store manager for details.

Shell Better Britain Campaign
Aims to support community groups to improve the quality of life in their neighbourhood with grants of up to £2,000. For information contact 0121 212 9221, email info@sbbc.co.uk or see www.sbbc.co.uk.

Single Regeneration Budget (SRB)
Targeted at economic regeneration and environmental improvement of town centres for certain geographic areas of Cornwall. For information contact the South West RDA's Truro office on 01872 243750.

Skills Development Fund
For industry and employer organisations in partnership with skills and learning providers on projects (minimum value £50,000, maximum value £250,000) to pump-prime new and innovative approaches to meeting the economic skill development of the region. Small Business Service (DTI)
Helps small businesses by minimising the burden of regulation, promoting support services to enhance performance, promoting enterprise across society and achieving the highest standards of service delivery. Most of the Small Business Service budget delivered locally is available for match funding - this includes money for a range of funds. South West Innovation Fund
Supports SMEs that meet the RDA's objectives for economic development. For information contact the South West RDA's Truro office on 01872 243750.

South West Investment Group

Town Forum Community Fund
Available for Saltash, Liskeard, Newquay, Bodmin, St Austell, Camborne, Redruth, Hayle and Falmouth for economic regeneration, environmental improvements and projects that involve the youth of the towns. Funding is targeted at voluntary and community groups. Contact the Community Development Officer at your district council.

User Empowerment Grants
