The role of this Task Force is:
| • |
To provide a focus through which to explore and promote a structured approach to the development of the creative industries in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in relation to the Objective One programme. |
| • |
The primary focus will be on ensuring that projects meet the strategic aims of the Single Programming Document (SPD) and on encouraging a strategic approach to the development of creative practitioners, product, infrastructure, marketing and training to ensure that the potential of the sector is maximised. Particular attention will be given to the synergies that exist between this sector and others. |
| • |
In encouraging projects, the Task Force will work within the framework provided by the SPD, the Cornwall Heritage and Culture Strategy, the South West of England Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) Regional Strategy and the strategies of the cultural agencies that apply. |
This strategy is produced by the Task Force to help guide Objective One applicants with projects that aim to develop the creative industries sector. It is designed so that applicants can read the opening sections 1 – 3 and then concentrate on the relevant sub sector/s action plan.
This document complements other Objective One strategies and Integrated Area Plans (IAP) and should be read alongside them. It provides a focus for the development of the Creative Industries as a key sector in delivering economic and social regeneration in Cornwall.
This is the first time that the sector has attempted to develop an action-based strategy. In this respect the Task Force realises that this strategy will need to be reviewed and revised during the first 3 - 6 month period, so as to allow for wider sectoral input. After this initial development period the strategy will be reviewed and amended on an annual basis.
