Carrick team's Objective One success

Carrick Integrated Area Plan Team has announced its first successful Objective One project approval. The Team has assisted Self Direction Community Project, which is a charity based between Falmouth and Penryn, to access more than £120,000 from the Objective One European Social Fund to deliver their ‘Access On-line ICT Facility’.

The £430,000 project will offer support and training through the use of information communications technology (ICT) to people from marginalised and disadvantaged communities - particularly people with disabilities - enabling them to access lifelong learning and employment opportunities. Access On-line aims to provide information, specialist ICT facilities, employment, community participation and fulfilment.

Gaye Hutchison, Self Direction Project Manager, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this grant from Objective One and are very grateful to the Carrick IAP Team for their invaluable support and advice.”

The project was developed with assistance from the Carrick Integrated Area Plan (IAP) Team and is the first successful Objective One project for the team.

The Carrick IAP is the local delivery mechanism for European Objective One funding in the district and is responsible for working closely with the private, public and voluntary sector to develop successful projects which will regenerate the local area. The team offers advice and guidance on whether projects are eligible for Objective One funding; assists with the preparation of business plans and guides applicants through the Objective One funding process.

The team has a portfolio of projects under development and is keen to hear from anyone in the district who has a project idea that will contribute towards improving the economic prosperity of the Carrick area.

There are four IAP officers, who work across the district.
