OBJECTIVE ONE BLAST FREEZE AWARD

Falmouth Fishselling Company (Falfish) director Mark Greet is delighted to receive a second Objective One Fisheries Grant to add value to Cornish fish and shellfish. The company has invested in excess of £100,000 in freezing and production equipment.

Falfish have installed blast freezing, coldstores and grading facilities, which will increase quality and production of frozen scallops, mackerel and cuttle fish. This, along with a packing line will enable the company to produce a quality frozen product to European export markets.

The company has developed additional secondary processing of locally landed Cornish fish, creating new jobs as a result of diversifying their activity. Falfish are committed to adding value to Cornish fish within Cornwall.

Clare Leverton, Objective One Fisheries Programme Manager stated, “One of the main aims of the Objective One grants for the fishing industry is to add value to Cornish fish locally. Falmouth Fishselling, by processing and freezing scallops, will not only lengthen the season where scallops are available for the market, but help secure markets for Cornish caught scallops and other fish species.”

Mark Greet of Falmouth Fishselling Company said, “This Objective One Fisheries programme grant has helped Falfish to upgrade its fish processing facilities and to invest into frozen production methods.”
