Crantock Bakery delighted to welcome the Duke of York
Crantock Bakery, the award winning makers of Cornish pasties,
is delighted to confirm that His Royal Highness The Duke of
York, will visit the bakery on Wednesday, February 7th.
In his capacity as the UK's Special Representative
for International Trade and Investment, HRH The Duke of York
will formally unveil a plaque to mark the successful completion
of a £1.1m investment programme.
The investment, part funded by Objective One, enables the
bakery to produce up to 120,000 pasties per day and has led
to the creation of 30 new jobs at the site and safeguarded
an additional 85 jobs.
Nick Ringer, managing director of Crantock Bakery, said:
"I am looking forward to welcoming The Duke of York
to the bakery and to showing him the extensive investment
that has been made since 2002.
"Whilst the pasty is very much part of Cornwall's
history, today it is worth an estimated £150 million
a year to the local economy and we are seeing significant
growth into overseas markets."
Crantock's pasties are made to a traditional Cornish
recipe and hand crimped before being blast frozen. Crantock
pasties are principally sold in the UK through Oggy Oggy and
Cornish Bakehouse retail outlets and are also exported to
six other countries across Europe.

expansion project through the European Agricultural Guidance
and Guarantee fund (EAGGF).

Editor's notes:
The purpose-built Crantock Bakery is a 25,000 square foot
modern food manufacturing facility, producing 60,000 pasties
a day. Pasties are all still HAND CRIMPED in the true Cornish
fashion.
