Media statement from University College Falmouth regarding
the merger with Dartington College of Arts
University College Falmouth's Board of Governors met
on Friday to discuss Dartington College of Arts' recently-announced
preference to merge with us.
The Board is pleased to announce that it unanimously endorsed
Dartington's preference and would welcome the opportunity
to work with its staff and students to create a single merged
institution with an international reputation for art, design,
media and performance arts, located in the south west.
Discussions will now take place with the Regional Development
Agency, the Higher Education Funding Council for England and
other funding bodies to determine whether a suitable funding
package can be made available to enable the proposed merger
to go ahead.
If an appropriate level of funding can be secured and contractual
arrangements completed, The Board would hope that a formal
legal agreement to create the merged institution would be
signed this summer, with Dartington's relocation to
Cornwall expected to take place in September 2009 or 2010.
