Students promote local university study in new campaign

As university application figures for Cornwall College soar, the campaign to attract new students for 2008 is already underway with the launch of the College's new prospectus.

Designed by Gendall Design Ltd in Falmouth, the prospectus includes information on over seventy full-time courses on campuses across Cornwall, using the success stories of graduates from across the world. "The course has helped me to look at renewable energy on a global scale," explained renewable energy student, Rogers Kyagulanyi, who moved to Cornwall from Uganda to study. "It has been a real advantage coming here to the UK and seeing world standards rather than those of East Africa. The course has given me the urge and confidence to introduce new technologies back home."

Graduates and existing students are featured throughout the prospectus, demonstrating the range of careers and opportunities available with a Cornwall College university qualification.

"Many of our university courses include work experience," explained John Latham, Principal of Cornwall College, "so students get an insight into their industry, acquire valuable work-related skills, and make useful contacts which can help them find work after graduation. The courses are also developed with employers so the content is directly relevant to their needs."

Ruth Grant, student on the Tourism Foundation Degree, agrees. "The course is great. It integrates the essence of sustainability while demonstrating effective skills in marketing, economics, law, and many other key aspects of the tourism industry, while allowing me to continue in full-time employment." Ruth is currently working as an environmental officer at Newquay Zoo.

Cornwall College offers more courses, approved by the University of Plymouth, than ever before, appealing to students who want to experience the lifestyle of Cornwall, the variety of courses, and their practical nature.
