Reaction to tonight's opening of the newly dualled A30 stretch

Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Objective One Partnership, has welcomed the news that the first stretch of the newly dualled A30 will be opened ahead of schedule.

She said: "Back in 1999 businesses were surveyed to find out what they needed to improve the Cornish economy. Top of the list was the dualling of the A30, followed by improved transport links.

"Good connectivity is key to a successful economy and I am pleased to finally see the opening of this first dualled stretch of the A30. The Programme has invested in both the redualling of part of the main railway line and into improvements for Newquay Cornwall Airport. Strengthening our integrated transport infrastructure will help us maximise our economic potential."
