Celebrating the achievements of some honey2cornwall members
The honey2cornwall programme has been running since 2005
and in that time there has been great success by our members
in increasing their National Quality Assurance Scheme (NQAS)
ratings and in achieving many awards and accolades.
This has been assisted by the business mentoring support
and grant aided funding offered by the honey2cornwall programme
thus enabling the increase of establishment persona and quality
for visitors to Cornwall. The honey2cornwall project and its
predecessor HONEY have both received Objective One investment.
The NQAS was set up by VisitBritain to assure an across the
board standard for measuring tourist accommodation standards.
Anchorage House has just been awarded the rating of '5
Stars Highly Commended' by the AA, which is their latest
accolade for guest accommodation that is in the top 10% of
their star rating. It is the follow-on to their former Red
Diamond Award, which had been held since 2002.
Stephen and Jane Epperson say: "We have gained
a great deal from the business mentor programme, which enables
people like ourselves who change careers to get professional
insight into how to improve all aspects of the business. Anchorage
House has been fortunate enough to have been awarded two grants
for improving the infrastructure of our guest house, and set
us apart from practically everyone else in the South West
with our newly constructed indoor swimming and leisure complex.
Thank you for your support this past 18 months."
After two years of re-branding, The Hundred House Hotel and
Fish In The Fountain Restaurant has been awarded its third
black star from the AA and its first Rosette for cooking.
Set in the heart of the stunning Roseland Peninsula at Ruan
Highlanes, the Hundred House is now the AA's smallest
country house hotel in Cornwall and is one of the top 50 hotels
in Cornwall.
"All of the mentor support and specialist help
provided by honey2cornwall has been very valuable to us and
what is more important it made sense. The support has been
tailored to our ideas and it is this personalisation of your
programme that makes all the difference for small businesses
like ours. Our next stage is to refurbish the kitchen over
this winter, which will assist in greater achievements in
the future," added Richard and Denise Maior-Baron.
There are but a few places left to take advantage of potential
grant support for upgrading of four or more bedroom serviced
accommodation in Cornwall. With less than a year of the programme
remaining time is quickly running out. To find out more about
