Relocation for screenprinting business leads to further expansion
Less than 12 months after moving to new premises a Cornish company has relocated again to deal with increased growth.
ASP Industries, has moved from Parc Erissey Industrial Estate in Redruth to Newquay. The company has taken over the former Fistral Surf Company headquarters in Berry Road, behind the Reef Surf Lodge. To coincide with the move the company has also employed Liam Mitchell as a full time printer and the services of Rick Farrington as Technical Adviser.
"The last 12 months have been incredible for us," said ASP's managing director, Chris Dart. "The growth we have seen has been dramatic as we've gone from our original 500 sq ft site in St Agnes and now into a 4000 sq ft site here in Newquay.
"Much of the demand has been fuelled by our bespoke design service. Our designer Paddy Butler has a thorough understanding of garment printing and has been able to utilise his design experience to get our clients' message across. A t-shirt can serve as a walking billboard, but the design is critical."
With a new showroom open on site, ASP has recently welcomed a new automated printing machine, which will give them the capacity to print 5000 garments per week.
The cost of relocation has been part-funded by an Objective One backed interest-free loan through South West Investment Group (SWIG). John Peters, Fund Manager at SWIG commented: "The rapid growth of the company required investment in new automated machinery alongside some adaptations to the new premises. With any growing business, cash is king and I am very pleased that our funding has unlocked the opportunity for ASP to fulfil its expansion plans."
Commenting on the move to Newquay Chris said: "Newquay has traditionally been the base for all the county's leading screenprinting businesses. For the last eighteen months the town has been without this service so it's a great opportunity for our company. It's also invaluable that we now have the experience of Rick and Liam on board."
