Major industry success for University College Falmouth’s MA in Television Production

Some of UCF's MA Television Production graduates at Twofour Productions in PlymouthWith the entire cohort of University College Falmouth’s MA Television Production graduates from 2007 already working in the television industry, no fewer than five graduates have gone on to secure enviable industry jobs and placements at Twofour Productions in Plymouth.

Sandeep Rana, who now works specifically in the digital post production wing, was selected through a National Skills Talent day sponsored by Channel 4, with fellow graduates Ceri Hubbard, Richard Beirne, Matt Grosch and Ed Stables completing the formidable line up.

TwoFour Productions is one of the largest media companies in the UK, producing broadcast programming and communications content for distribution over all multimedia platforms.

“Twofour is a company that is growing at a very fast pace, and has an exciting atmosphere, driven by young and energetic people,” said Sandeep, who is thrilled to be working there. “The key strength of the course at Falmouth is that it’s 100% practical. It provided me with the wherewithal to decide which avenue of television production to follow.”

Chris Truran, who leads Falmouth’s MA in Television Production, commented: “The MA is designed to develop the professional, intellectual and practical skills necessary to gain employment in today’s television industry. These achievements bear testimony to that and to the students’ hard work. They deserve every success.”

Current MA Television Production student, Ian Smith, ably assisted by a team of fellow students, recently made a suite of programmes about the graduation of the first cohort of students from Jamie Oliver’s restaurant at Watergate Bay, Fifteen. The event was held at the Eden Project.

Projected onto a large screen in one of the biomes to a packed audience, including Tim Smit and other dignitaries, the films introduced the charity project, which aims to train young people from troubled backgrounds in top-notch restaurant skills, and gave a portrait of each of the graduates as they took to the stage to collect their awards from Jamie.

Joanne Davey, a spokesperson for Fifteen, said: “The team were excellent and really professional.”

“It is experiences like these that give Falmouth students a head start in terms of gaining employment in a very competitive industry,” concluded Chris Truran.
