First grants awarded to local projects
The Objective One funded Community Futures Fund recently awarded
its first grants to local projects. The first two projects
approved were the New Connection Project and the Crossover
into Employment Project.
The New Connection Project in conjunction with Real Base
Training will provide hands-on mechanical training for 10
homeless or otherwise excluded individuals. The expected benefits
of the project include increased motivation, self-esteem and
confidence, hopefully leading to brighter futures for the
individuals involved.
The Crossover into Employment Project offers a variety of
training initiatives and childcare support for parents in
the Camborne area. The training available covers: ICT skills,
self-esteem and assertiveness skills and stress management.
Additional support is available to help complete job applications
and create CVs.
Catherine Roberts, Fund Manager for the Community Futures
Fund said, Its great to see groups and individuals
who need help being able to benefit from Objective One and
other money.
If anyone has a project that will help people progress towards
employment or formal training that would be completed by July
2004 they should contact the Fund Team for more information.
Grants of 100% are available towards projects that cost no
more than £6,000.
The Fund Team can be contacted on 01872 322869 or visit the
