Potato bus comes to Cornwall
The British Potato Council (BPC) is sending its eye-catching
double-decker potato bus to Cornwall to support the Cornish
Early potato campaign, which kicks off next week.
The bus is going to be used to give out free samples to both
taste and take away of the small, locally grown potatoes
the earliest new potatoes to be lifted in the UK - and will
be difficult to miss as it tours the Penwith area in its
newly painted livery sporting the BPCs eye catching
fuel for healthy living message.
The bus will be at the following
locations next Wednesday, 30 April:
| 10.00am 1.15pm |
Folly Field car park, Marazion (opposite
St Michaels Mount) |
| 2.00pm 4.00pm |
Safeway car park, Penzance |
The public, retailers and caterers are all being encouraged
to visit the bus not just to taste these delicious new potatoes,
but also to pick up promotional material and recipe cards
which have been specially designed to inspire more people
to sell, serve and eat Cornish Earlies while theyre
in season.
The recipe cards will include dishes specially designed by
award winning head chef Kevin Viner, of Sevens Restaurant
and Café Citron in Truro, to show off the culinary
qualities of the Cornish Early potato.
This campaign has been launched to put this local new potato
back on the map and the menu - by the farmers that
grow it in West Cornwall. Penwith Farm Business Centre, with
support from Penwith District Council, the Objective One funded
Cornwall Taste of the West and the British Potato Council,
is driving this countywide campaign in a bid to increase awareness
and demand for the Cornish Early.
