FREE EVENT WILL FOCUS ON FUNDING NORTH CORNWALL’S FUTURE

Demand for places on a one-day event about how to win funding for community projects will be high say the organisers who are urging delegates to book early.

Regeneration North Cornwall is holding a day for community groups to come together to learn and exchange ideas and experience. The Community Exchange Extravaganza being held on Wednesday 4 December 2002 at the Gaia Energy Centre, Delabole is about developing a vision for the future development of communities. The day is centred on what community groups can achieve for the area they live in and how to secure funding to accomplish it.

Representatives from funding and support organisations across North Cornwall and beyond will be on hand to answer questions and provide information and ideas. Community groups who have already succeeded in developing a plan for their future will be able on the day to share their experiences and expertise. Also present will be Mr Noel Mitchell a representative from Kilkhampton Parish who have recently won £4,500 of funds from the Countryside Agency to carry out consultation and produce a Parish Plan. Mr Mitchell has said, "The Countryside Agency were remarkably easy to deal with, the process was not at all complicated.”

Speakers from a variety of funding bodies including Community Fund and two new Objective One Funds, The Rural Key Fund and Community Futures Fund and others will be present to share their skills and specific knowledge and to outline how they can assist community groups in the implementation of ideas.

Representatives include from amongst others:

Objective One
Regeneration North Cornwall
Countryside Agency
Community Fund and Awards For All
Rural Renaissance
Cornwall Rural Community Council
Community Projects Trust
Sports Funding
The Children’s Fund

The morning will focus on the provision of information and the importance of community visioning, and the afternoon on exchange of experience. There is in place a programme of presentations, question and answer sessions, exhibitions and surgeries to provide information for all and allow more informal and specific questions to be posed.

This event is part of a number in Regeneration North Cornwall’s training programme for community members and follows on from the highly successful and popular session held in October focusing on ‘How to write a good Objective One bid’ which was delivered by the Government Office For The South West.

The day is open to all community groups and project sponsors in North Cornwall. Come along and hear the success stories of those communities like your own. Take your ideas and questions directly to those who have the knowledge and the links to help you get your project off the ground. The day is a free event with lunch included and is it is anticipated that there will be a high demand for places so it is essential to book your place.
