Residents to influence the future
of Gwennap
On Saturday the 28th June the 5th annual Gwennap Fete will
be held at the playing fields at Pulla Cross. This event will
be bigger and better than ever before, with activities for
all ages.
Also this year there is a view to the future with a community
consultation event being organised by Gwennap Parish Council
in partnership with the Objective One funded North Kerrier
Integrated Area Plans Regeneration Team. There will
be the opportunity for all visitors to the fete to have their
say in what priorities the parish council takes forward in
the regeneration of the area, whether it be community facilities,
environmental enhancements at the Wheal Maid site, improved
recreational facilities or any aspect of local life.
The Parish Council hopes that a strong turn out of local
people putting across their ideas will influence future investment
decisions in the area, as has happened in other parts of Cornwall
in recent years. Bryony Veale, Community Regeneration Officer,
said: “The fete will be great event for all the family
to enjoy, and the consultation work that we will be undertaking
shows the strong commitment to the future of the local community.
All we need now is the views of local people in saying what
they most want to see undertaken in the parish of Gwennap.”
