actnow spearheads new initiative
to accelerate e-businesses in Cornwall
Thursday 26th June sees the launch of an innovative service
from actnow designed to accelerate the growth of e-business
in Cornwall.
The service is unique in the UK, offering an unparalleled
degree of support to local businesses to help them develop
their business through broadband technology.
Called actnow accelerator, the new service is to help businesses
which have a broadband internet connection through actnow to exploit the technology to the full and radically grow their
business. The new service offers free expert help to develop
a tailored eBusiness strategy as well as providing up to 40%
rebate on the costs of technology investment required to deliver
that strategy.
Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Objective One Programme
in Cornwall, says: actnow accelerator is a revolutionary
new way in which Objective One investment is being used to
create a step change within the business community in Cornwall.
The launch follows a test pilot in Cornwall to ensure that
accelerator matches customer needs and the response from businesses
has been enthusiastic.
Alexandra Dickens, who runs The Studio Gallery in St Ives,
says: I had been meaning to develop a website for ages
but I would probably never have got around to it if it had
not been for this. It has made all the difference to receive
a 40% rebate on the development costs.
Alan Sperring, Managing Director of Pryntya, a printing firm
in Redruth, is installing a cutting edge electronic supply
chain management system and benefiting from a rebate
which is worth thousands of pounds. In the short term,
the new technology will mean more efficient administration
and less paperwork. In the long term, this could potentially
add up to £2million to our turnover and create 15 new
jobs. I am delighted.
actnow Project Manager Ranulf Scarbrough, says: accelerator
is a completely unique and innovative service which delivers
a real competitive advantage to businesses in Cornwall. We
are confident that the end result of this new service will
be a significant boost to the local economy, meaning the creation
of new jobs and greater prosperity.
