Boost for local food producer from
Falmouth restaurant upgrade
Local food producers are set to benefit as a Falmouth restaurant
upgrades its kitchen with the help of an Objective One grant.
Christine Groom, proprietor of the Packet Ship Restaurant,
has recently secured funding from the Objective One Capital
Grant Scheme for the Cornwall Food and Drink Industry. The
scheme is designed to assist with the costs of new capital
/ processing equipment, with a commitment to increase purchases
from Cornish food suppliers.
Truro Colleges Cascade Project was instrumental in
helping Christine with preparing the business plan, finding
the funding source and putting forward the grant application.
Steve Bennett, Cascade Business Adviser, said: This
Taste of the West Scheme provides a wonderful opportunity
for businesses such as restaurants and caterers to work in
partnership with local food producers for their mutual benefit.
The grant was secured through the Fast Track scheme, which
meant that it was approved in 2 weeks. Its a win win
situation.
Local businesswoman, Christine Groom said: The support
and help that I received from the Cascade Project in securing
the funding has been invaluable.
Cascade is a free business mentoring, training and networking
service supported by the European Social Fund and can be accessed
by all Cornish business.
