Local chefs draw the crowds!
Hundreds of people were entertained at the Newlyn Fish Festival
on Bank Holiday Monday (25 August) by a fast moving cookery
demonstration by local chefs. Ben Tunnicliffe from the Abbey
Restaurant in Penzance, Nigel Tabb from Tabbs Restaurant
in Portreath and Tracy Page, Chef Lecturer at Cornwall College
kept the crowds enthralled as they did 'Ready Steady Cook'
with a selection of locally landed fresh fish and seasonal
vegetables grown in Penwith District.
Part funding was given to the project by the Objective One
Fisheries Programme (£2,880) and supported by Seafish
under the promotion of 'Fish Forever'. This is a fishing industry
initiative to promote the fish at Cornish events. Plans are
underway to host a Newquay Fish Festival on the Harbour 13
and 14 September with cookery demonstrations from local chefs
and fun for all the family. More details to follow.
