Graduate jobs created in West Cornwall

Four new graduate positions have been created following the relocation of an international marketing communications company from London to Helston. The new jobs which have been filled by local people are the result of a move by M1 Marketing to offices in the centre of the Cornish town.

Cornwall Enterprise assisted with the relocation by providing information as part of their inward investment programme which aims to achieve prosperity for Cornwall by increasing the range and value of jobs. This programme has recently been transformed with the introduction of Objective One project In Cornwall You Can - a brand new one stop service for potential investors moving to Cornwall. Danielle Atkins who was recently appointed as Investment Manager welcomed the news of the new jobs created saying, "This is exactly the kind of company we are looking to attract - small niche businesses generating high quality jobs.”

M1 Marketing specialises in business to business Marketing, Advertising and PR to the general manufacturing sector. They offer a comprehensive service including market research, business planning, trade press relations and brochure distribution to help businesses to effectively promote themselves in the UK and Europe.

Formed in 1993 by Liam Olliff, the company has a turnover of £1.2 million. Key clients include Shell, Thermo King Europe, Heil, King Trailers and Brigade Electronics. M1 Marketing operates in six countries throughout Europe.

In Cornwall You Can is a red carpet service to target and attract inward investment in key sectors through a co-ordinated one stop service for businesses. The service will bring together all marketing and support activity for inward investment to promote a clear and positive image of the county as a place to do business. An Ambassadors' scheme to engage influential advocates for Cornwall both inside and outside the county will also be established.

The new programme aims to attract 78 new high quality businesses to Cornwall, creating 780 new jobs and injecting £23.4 million into the economy over the next few years. It will also support activities towards the development of key business sectors such as creative industries, emerging technologies, ICT and other hi-tech clusters.

In Cornwall You Can has been developed to work in close liaison with Business Link, the South West Regional Development Agency, the Combined Universities in Cornwall and the range of other business support initiatives which are available in the county.
