Best foot forward for Restormel
Credit Union
The Restormel Credit Union (proposed) Steering Group are
delighted to announce the appointment of Frank Shires from
H&S Associates to assist in the training and implementation
of the Credit Union in Restormel.
There are a lot of interesting matters to unfold in the setting
up of the Credit Union in Restormel. These include training
for the steering group and registration with the Financial
Services Authority to become a fully fledged Credit Union.
Bryan Rawlins, Chair of the proposed Restormel Credit Union
says: "We are really pleased that Frank has been appointed
to help drive us forward but volunteers are the most important
part of the Credit Union process. We are continually looking
for new members to join us, there are fantastic opportunities
to become an integral part of various areas which make up
the Credit Union. After all, the feasibility study that was
undertaken shows there is a real need within the Restormel
area for a Credit Union to be set up and great potential -
here's to the future.”
The Credit Union movement is spreading across the UK, offering
individuals and communities a way of encouraging saving and
providing low-cost credit. They can also act as a bridge to
other financial services, encourage sound financial practice
and have the added advantage of keeping local money in the
local economy.
The proposed Restormel Credit Union Steering Group are looking
for new volunteers to join them and be an important part in
the setting up of this innovative and much needed project.
The group are eager for the help and support the Credit Union
will provide to be in place as quickly as possible and are
aiming for the Credit Union to be opened in 2005. Anyone that
would be interested in this please contact Claire Evans at
Restormel Regeneration Partnership on 01726 623735.

Integrated Area Plans (IAPs) are the way in which Objective
One can help communities. These are the plans that integrate
the economic, social and environmental aspects of the Objective
One programme into a framework for use in a specific area.
There are eleven plans throughout Cornwall, three of which
(St Austell Bay, China Clay Area, and Newquay & its Rural
Hinterland) are covered by Restormel. |
|
The Objective One, European Regional Development Fund,
funded Integrated Area Plan team was established in February
2001 to deliver the three IAPs for Restormel. It can help
with developing and supporting community based projects who
wish to apply for Objective One investment. |

The RRP team is funded by Restormel Borough Council,
Objective One European Regional Development Fund, the South
West of England Regional Development Agency, Imerys, Cornwall
