Move to Harvey's Foundry as marketing firm expands

Cornwall-based sales and marketing consultancy Total Marketing (UK) Ltd has moved into new premises at Hayle as part of an ongoing company expansion.

The relocation follows a £22,000 investment package put together for Total Marketing by The Prince’s Trust in association with Finance Cornwall, the Truro-based business finance company and South West Investment Group (SWIG).

Finance Cornwall is a £20 million investment fund backed by £9 million from the Objective One European Regional Development Fund.

Total Marketing co-director Martin Strutton said that as well as moving into new premises at Harvey’s Foundry, the company is investing in new IT equipment and website improvements, and expects to take on between 10-15 new staff over the next couple of months to cope with the demand for the company's services which are carried out by only a small number of other companies locally.

He said: “The purpose of this funding package is to allow us to make further capital investment in the company and to get us to the next level of expansion.”

Total Marketing specialises in helping smaller companies to develop direct marketing, telesales and customer database systems.

Martin, who set up the company with partner Sonrisa Hipkins, explained: “We provide a support service for local companies that need support with establishing a marketing strategy that’s tailored to their needs and not too expensive.

“We set up Total Marketing to help small to medium-sized businesses benefit from increased sales by developing a dynamic, targeted format for their marketing campaigns. Competitive pricing and high quality of service – tailored to both the needs and the budget of individual clients – has helped us build a first class reputation.”

As well as winning clients from across Cornwall, the fact that their business is not constrained by geography has also enabled Total Marketing to add firms in Sussex, Wales and Cheshire to their customer base.

Finance Cornwall Fund Manager Jeff Lenihan said: “Total Marketing is a young, vibrant company that has already carved out a solid niche for itself. At Finance Cornwall we help people to make the most of their company which is exactly why we are providing loan investment for Total Marketing so that they can invest in larger premises, better equipment and more staff and continue to attract new contracts.”

The investment package put together for Total Marketing included an initial £3,000 of seed capital from The Prince’s Trust, £7,500 from Finance Cornwall, £7,180 from the South West Investment Group (SWIG), £2,000 from Barclays Bank and £2,556 from private funds.

Martin Yates, Chairman of The Prince’s Trust Funding Panel for Cornwall said: “The Prince’s Trust is very pleased that its initial funding support assisted the start-up of Total Marketing and acted as a catalyst for the new investment package which will support the company’s next stage of growth.”

John Peters, fund manager of SWIG said: “We are very pleased to be supporting this young, successful company that already has a track record of gaining clients from all over the UK and helping other local businesses access new markets.”

Finance Cornwall is based in Truro and offers a complete financial solutions package for local businesses. It provides direct access to £20 million of its own funds, ranging from just £5,000 to more than £500,000, combined with access to expert business planning and ongoing support.
