Perranporth Easter jobs fair

Anyone looking for work in Perranporth and the surrounding area should head to Perranporth Memorial Hall on Monday 29th March. From 2pm until 6pm many local employers will be on hand with a wide range of vacancies on offer. There will be something for everyone. Perhaps you have retired early but would like to do some part-time work? Maybe health issues prevent you from returning to your previous type of work but you are now ready to try something different? And especially if you are bringing up children alone - you and the children will be made very welcome.

Vacancy Services Manager, Sam Knuckey and Lone Parent Adviser, Karen Hough from Truro Jobcentre Plus are working closely with Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change to ensure that this event benefits both local employers and local jobseekers.

Pam Sekula, Manager of Objective One project Neighbourhood Pathways to Employment (a CN4C initiative) said: "As our name suggests, we bring our services out into the community. On Monday we'll have three advisers at the Jobs Fair to assist anybody who lives in the Perranporth area to gain advice and access work. We're also providing a crèche and activities for children; so all the family will be welcome. This is our first event in Perranporth, but it's not a one-off. In an area where many vacancies are seasonal, our advisers will still be around when summer ends.”

She adds: "We can offer guidance towards training and volunteering, and practical help to overcome barriers such as transport and childcare costs, suitable clothing for work, and gap funding between coming off benefits and that first pay packet. It's all voluntary and it's all free. Our clients make their own choices at their own pace, and we can even offer on-going support once someone starts a job.”
