Knowledge Spa Signifies Future Direction
for Cornwall
The opening of the Knowledge Spa on the 15th September marks
a significant step in the new direction for Cornwall and the
Isles of Scilly. The building of a knowledge base to develop
the skills and education of the local population creates a
forward looking research culture and attracts high paying
technical and scientific companies to develop in the area.
The next phase will see the establishment, on land nearby
of a medi-park, where businesses will benefit from access
to the research and equipment at the spa, necessary to assist
them in the development of ideas into economically viable
products and services.
Having already invested in the first phase, Objective One
is now looking for opportunities that will have an even greater
economic impact through support for private sector businesses
in the medi-park. As Carleen Kelemen, director of the Objective
One partnership said: "Health related industries are
at the forefront globally of economic growth at the moment
and are seen as providing long-term well paid jobs for the
future. The Knowledge Spa gives Cornwall and the Isles of
Scilly the best possible link to the future."
