LOCAL FIREWOOD BUSINESS WINS OBJECTIVE ONE FUNDING

Fire Logs of Roskrow, near Penryn, has been awarded an Objective One grant by Working Woodlands to help with investment in new equipment.

Run by Bob Willmott, the business supplies quality hardwood and softwood fuel logs sourced from Cornish woodland. The grant from Working Woodlands will help with the purchase of a firewood processor to mechanise Bob’s production of fuel logs.

Fire Logs provides an additional, valuable outlet for Cornish woodland owners wishing to utilise small sized hardwood and softwood materials. Bob was awarded his grant because his work is bringing under-managed woodlands back into production. Once managed properly these woods can make long-term contributions to Cornwall’s rural economy.

Bob’s enterprise is one of the first to be awarded a grant from Working Woodlands. This European and UK government-funded Project is offering grants and support to businesses that grow wood, work with wood or sell wood or wood products in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
