Ministerial Visit at Royal Cornwall

Lord Bach, Defra Minister for Horticulture and Parliamentary
Under-Secretary (Lords) for Sustainable Farming and Food,
paid a visit to the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC)
stand at the Royal Cornwall Show on Friday 10th June.
Lord Bach of Lutterworth received a briefing on the success
of the Objective One Programme in Cornwall and the Isles of
Scilly from Partnership representatives including Carleen
Kelemen and Mark Yeoman, director and deputy director of the
Objective One Partnership respectively, Alan Stanhope, principal
of Cornwall College and chair of the CUC Marketing and PR
Group and Steve Parsons, principal of Duchy College.
Partners explained the key role of the Combined Universities
in Cornwall in the economic regeneration of Cornwall and the
Isles of Scilly and the exciting plans for an agri-food centre
at Duchy College to the Minister.
He also spoke to Amy Crowson, currently a student at the
University of Exeter, who explained her perspective of the
new Combined Universities in Cornwall, giving the opportunity
for students from Cornwall to access higher education in Cornwall,
as well as the rest of the UK.
Ms Kelemen said: "The Minister showed great interest
in Cornwall's economic regeneration, particularly the growing
links between the agriculture and food industries and the
Combined Universities."

The Objective One Programme for Cornwall
