Conference Set To Celebrate Cornwall's Built Environment
Objective One, in partnership with the University of Plymouth are hosting a conference on sustainable architecture, on 22nd and 23rd of September at the CUC Hub Campus at Tremough, to celebrate the considerable investment in Cornwall's built environment over the past three years.
The two-day conference will present speakers including RIBA president George Ferguson and representatives from Future Foundations and CABE Southwest, who will describe their approaches and take part in a wide-ranging discussion about Cornwall's particular needs.
Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Objective One Partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: "This conference sets out to highlight the iconic buildings that have been produced with the support of Objective One investment. Sustainability, education and wealth creation are key factors in the programme and these buildings are concrete examples of the region's aspirations."
On the second day delegates will be taken on a tour of some of the buildings that have benefited from Objective One investment. The tour will include the Knowledge Spa in Truro, which houses part of the Peninsula Medical School and the University of Plymouth faculty of health and social care; the CUC Tremough campus, which has been regional winner in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors awards, the Eden Project and Mount Pleasant Eco-Park.
The conference will stimulate debate between experts and professionals in the industry on the value of an environmentally friendly approach to construction in diverse and rural settings.

The Objective One Programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has invested in The Knowledge Spa, the CUC, the Eden Project and Mount Pleasant Eco-Park through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
