Business leaders welcome new online
jobs market for Cornwall
Business leaders in Cornwall today welcomed the launch jobsincornwall.co.uk,
the new website dedicated to employers and jobseekers in Cornwall.
jobsincornwall.co.uk, which went live on 6 January, is a
unique locally owned and managed online job market website
that aims to bring together as much information as possible
about what jobs are available in Cornwall into one easily
accessible place.
The new jobs website made use of the aid available under
Cornwall's Objective One Programme, particularly Let's
Do IT, Enterprise Edge and Act Now, to establish its cutting
edge technology for the use of local employers and job-seekers.
Richard Newman, Chairman of the Objective One Business Task
Force for Cornwall, warmly welcomed the announcement saying:
"Business sectors in Cornwall, particularly the construction
industry, report a shortage of skilled labour that is preventing
some firms from growing. The dedicated jobsincornwall website
will be a crucial resource in the awareness of employment
opportunities, which will hopefully lead to satisfying the
demands of Cornish firms. We wish jobsincornwall every success
for the future."
Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Objective One Programme
for Cornwall, said: "This is a good example of a commercial
firm benefiting from multiple Objective One projects to lead
the way in using technology to extend opportunities for employment
for people in Cornwall."
Thelma Sorensen, Chairman of the Cornwall Business Partnership,
said: "This is a very welcome, innovative approach, created
by a Cornish company, to job recruitment in Cornwall. I particularly
congratulate Richard Crocker on leading the field by utilising
the latest information technology solutions, delivered by
excellent Objective One projects, such as 'Act Now'
and 'Let's Do IT', for the benefit of both
employers and job seekers in Cornwall's labour market."
Richard Crocker, managing director of jobsincornwall.co.uk,
said the new online service would streamline the recruitment
process and speed up the process of finding new employees.
"jobsincornwall.co.uk is a unique employment website
offering a specialist local service. Our sole aim is to make
recruitment advertising more effective for employers or recruitment
companies and job-hunting easy for prospective employees.
"Our jobs website offers employers the opportunity to
fill their job vacancies more quickly, more efficiently and
more cost-effectively. It will help to make the Cornwall jobs
market more efficient and promote skills and the local economy.
We also aim to help make Cornwall's economy more resilient
to changing employment opportunities and minimise unemployment.
By making information about available jobs more accessible
we will increase opportunities for everybody."
The internet is an ideal way to advertise or search for a
job, but until now finding local jobs has been a problem for
job seekers. That problem has now been solved as jobsincornwall.co.uk
launches its new website service especially for Cornwall.
Richard Crocker added: "The key to employment advertising
is to get your vacancy noticed by people who are most likely
to have the skills you need. To do this you need to use an
advertising channel that is convenient for people to use,
that actively promotes itself to workers and that is available
at times that suit them. jobsincornwall.co.uk provides just
such a service.
"If you are a job seeker you probably want to find a
job locally. jobsincornwall.co.uk offers convenient, instant,
free access to a huge range of continuously updated jobs in
a wide variety of industry sectors, available through a computer
24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We specialise only in advertising
jobs in Cornwall.
"With the help of reliable technology, jobsincornwall.co.uk
offers a complete and local recruitment advertising solution
to any employer which has job vacancies," Richard Crocker
says. "Jobs advertised with us will also be accessible
to jobseekers through a network of 26,000 other websites and
we will keep people registered on our database of registered
job seekers informed about new jobs. That means that if a
local person can't be found to fill a vacancy then the
advert will be seen nationwide. We will also be using radio
advertising. All these efforts have just one aim: to drive
thousands of listeners, viewers and readers to the job advertisements
employers place on our website."
Richard Crocker added: "Another benefit of an internet
advert is persistence. Our adverts stay online for weeks.
Most other adverts are consigned to the bin within hours of
publication. We vastly increase the chances of a job seeker
finding the vacancy they are looking for. jobsincornwall.co.uk
thus provides employers with access to a vast job-seeking
readership, representing a huge increase on the enquiries
that would be attracted to a jobs board on a single company
website or a vacancy advertised in other forms of local media.
"jobsincornwall.co.uk offers employers greater opportunities
to advertise a vacancy and find the right candidate for the
job with the minimum of fuss. They are able to advertise a
vacancy on our website in little more time than it takes to
type the advert. If there is a rapid response from job seekers,
a suitable shortlist can be compiled within hours. This can
be crucial when vacancies arise at short notice and customer
service is threatened by staff shortages.
"Vacancies can be accessed by job seekers from a wide
variety of locations, including computers at home or at work,
libraries, job centres, universities and colleges, or internet
cafes. Our aim is to be fast, flexible and agile and the convenience
of internet access is excellent when compared to other media."
If you are a job seeker looking for a convenient place to
see what local jobs are around, or an employer with a vacancy
and would like your advertising to work better, try jobsincornwall.co.uk.
