A novel idea for Christmas presents
Stuck
for a novel, but affordable, idea for Christmas presents?
The Duchy Fish Quota Company may have the solution.
In a change from previous years, for this year's annual
calendar the DFQC has kept the naked fishermen under wraps
in order to concentrate on the fishermen's 'raison
d'être' - Fish. This year's calendar features
twelve dramatic new Cornish seafood recipes designed exclusively
for the calendar by some of the county's top chefs, all determined
to show off the variety and quality of Cornish fish and shellfish
available alongside their own ideas for contemporary and tasty
cuisine.
Chefs featured in the calendar include Gareth Eddy (Head
Chef at Pescadou Restaurant, Padstow) who produced a delicious
cassoulet recipe using pollack fillet and dynamic young Tom
Bradbury (The Brasserie, Watergate Bay) who created a scrumptious
recipe using the most famous of Cornish fish – the sardine.
"We wanted to try something different this year.
As more and more people are becoming better informed of the
quality and range of Cornish fish available, a seafood calendar
seemed like a fantastic way of showing what Cornish fish has
to offer," said Nathan de Rozarieux, DFQC director.
The not-for-profit Duchy Fish Quota Company was established
in 2001 to buy and hold fish quota for future generations
of fishermen. Since it was formed the company has produced
a range of products including t-shirts, sweatshirts and car
stickers all of which can be viewed on our website –
www.duchyfishquota.co.uk.
The calendar costs £5.00 and is available from various
fishmongers, delicatessens and bookshops or direct from the
Duchy Fish Quota Company.

Editor's notes:
The Duchy Fish Quota Company was set up in 2001 to protect
the livelihoods of existing and future generations of Cornish
fishermen. The company is 'not-for-profit' and
was established to raise funds to buy fish quota to ensure
that Cornish fishing quota is always available to be used
by Cornish fishermen.
Since the company was set up in 2001, fundraising has taken
a number of forms including the Naked Fishermen calendars,
fish auctions, t-shirts, caps and other merchandise. Companies
and individuals are also invited to invest in bonds in the
company.
Further details of the Duchy Fish Quota Company can be found
