Cornwall to celebrate its women. Get nominating!
Nominations are being sought for the first ever Cornwall
Women of Achievement Awards being held at the Eden Project
on the 8th March, which will begin to recognise the inspirational
unsung heroines of Cornwall.
Over the past few years great things have been achieved
in all sectors in Cornwall and nominations are sought from
the people of Cornwall to celebrate Cornwall's women
in the following categories: Business, Agriculture, Food and
Fishing, Education, Creative Industries, Community and Public
Service, Young Woman, Sports and Leisure, Media and Communication
and Health.
The woman that a nominee puts forward may be a work colleague,
friend, relative, carer, teacher or someone who has made a
positive impact on Cornwall, on individuals or on groups'
lives in Cornwall. No matter who they are, the organisers
of the awards would like to hear about them.
Sue Wolstenholme, organiser of the event said: "These
awards seek to acknowledge and celebrate the women who with
their drive, innovation and passion have achieved great things
in their chosen field or gone the extra mile for others and
for their community. The awards aren't being sexist,
we want to hear from all the men who are inspired by the women
in their workplaces, homes and communities who have made a
positive impact on their lives."
Awards judge Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Objective
One Partnership, said: "Women have a key role in
the fabric of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, including
many who are working to regenerate the region's economy.
These awards will celebrate the talent, hard work and competitive
edge that women are contributing to this region."
