University College Falmouth students shine at Foundation Studies
in Art and Design End of Year Show
A celebratory exhibition of work from students who are close
to completing University College Falmouth's Foundation
Studies in Art & Design diploma is due to open at Falmouth
Arts Centre and the College's Wellington Terrace Annexe
next week.
"This exhibition is a celebration of the most
formative period for these students," says Foundation
Studies in Art & Design course leader, Phil Naylor. "It
is when their transformation into artists and designers really
begins, when eyes are opened, attitudes are changed and ideas
are formed."
The End of Year Show showcases a diverse selection of work
produced by the students during this intensive year of study,
which encompasses fine art, 3D design, photography, fashion,
graphic design and textiles, and prepares them for their next
steps.
Falmouth's Foundation course, available both full
and part-time, offers students an ideal gateway into higher
education in art and design through a series of compelling
lectures, seminars and practical projects. There are also
opportunities to visit and research some of London's
top galleries and museums, as well as receive talks from professionals
in the world of contemporary art and design.
"We are very proud of the success of University
College Falmouth's Foundation course in placing students
on higher level courses," adds Phil Naylor. "For
many years, over 90% of our students have gained entry to
degree courses in the full range of art and design disciplines,
from graphics to jewellery, footwear design to illustration,
textiles to printmaking and 3D design to theatre design, either
at Falmouth or throughout the United Kingdom," he
continues. "The Foundation End of Year Show is a
testament to our students' remarkable achievements and
we wish them every success in their future careers."
University College Falmouth's Foundation Studies in
Art & Design End of Year Show runs from Friday 26 May
to Thursday 1 June and is open to the public from 10am to
4pm, Monday to Saturday and admission is free.
