Top Award for Cornwall-based law partner

Congratulations to Chris Lingard from Follett Stock who has been awarded Partner of the Year by the Lawyer Magazine - the leading magazine for the legal profession.

Mr Lingard's award, which was presented at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel at the end of June, is one of several bringing recognition to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Thelma Sorensen, chair of Cornwall Business Partnership, said: "The status of the awards speaks for themselves. This is obviously a great honour for Chris and for a company operating in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. I will be writing formally from the Cornwall Business Partnership to express our congratulations."

Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Objective One Partnership, added: "This is a proud time for Cornwall with businesses and individuals increasingly gaining awards and honours. I warmly congratulate Mr Lingard on this prestigious award that brings recognition for himself, for Follet Stock and for the region."

Mr Lingard joined Truro-based Follett Stock as a Partner in 1999 and under his management has built the Dispute Resolution Team into an efficient fighting unit 16 strong. During this period, the firm has grown from nine to 45 people, developing an excellent reputation for client care and business services hitherto only associated with large city practices.

In September 2005, Mr Lingard was elected as Follett Stock's first Managing Partner and under his dynamic and proactive leadership the firm continues to realise its expansionist plans and regional aspirations. Mr Lingard commented: "This isn't really an award about me, it's about the entire firm and the way it is willing to go the extra mile for its clients."

Recently Tony Tomlinson, chairman of the Objective One Fisheries Programme Monitoring Group was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. In 2005, David Handley, a member of the Objective One Business Task Force, became Master Warden of the Drapers Guild. And this year's Lord Mayor of the City of London, David Brewer, has strong attachments to Cornwall and is promoting the region as much as possible during his year in office.
