Bodmin careers and jobs fair
Anyone looking for work in Bodmin should head along to Bodmin
Football Club on Friday 28 July where there will be a wide
range of vacancies on offer with many local employers.
Pam Sekula, who is head of CN4C's employment and training
projects, explained: "There will be something for
everyone. Perhaps you have retired early but would like to
do some part-time work? Maybe health issues prevent you from
returning to your previous job and you are now ready to try
something different? Maybe you are lacking the necessary qualifications
or licence to get that dream job? If you are bringing up children
alone you can meet with the lone parent adviser to find out
about the support Jobcentre Plus can offer."
The event is being organised by Cornwall Neighbourhoods for
Change (CN4C). The idea is to ensure that people living in
Bodmin and the surrounding areas are made aware of the support
that many agencies can offer. This benefits both local employers
and local jobseekers. Local colleges and training providers
will be there to offer advice and information on courses and
career opportunities. There are also hands-on taster training
sessions throughout the day in food preparation, building,
decorating, motor vehicle repair, arts and crafts and health
and beauty care.
Pam Sekula continued: "As our name suggests, we
bring services out into the community to help people on their
pathway towards training and work. On Friday we will have
six advisers on hand to assist anyone in the Bodmin area to
gain information, advice and guidance on training and work
opportunities, and the practical support we can offer. Neighbourhood
Pathways is a unique employment initiative created by CN4C
and Jobcentre Plus and is funded by Jobcentre Plus and the
European Social Fund. Pathways can assist individuals to overcome
barriers such as transport and childcare costs, qualifications,
suitable clothing for work and gap funding between coming
off benefits and that first pay packet. It's all voluntary
and it's all free. Individuals can make their own choices
at their own pace and our Pathways advisers can offer on-going
support through the training period, or once someone starts
a job."
There will be additional free advice on offer from the Children's
Information Service and many other support agencies.

employment services, can call free on 0800 328 4065.
