University College Falmouth illustrator selected for special
New Designers showcase
Vicky
Jones, who recently graduated from University College Falmouth's
internationally-renowned BA(Hons) Illustration course, has
been selected for New Designers Selection – a showcase
of the top 50 young designers who emerged as leading lights
from New Designers' main event in July.
Part of the prestigious London Design Festival, which attracts
design aficianados from all over the world, New Designers
Selection will take place in the creative hub of London, the
Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, from 21 to 24 September.
The aim of the exhibition is to promote and nurture the wealth
of graduate design talent in the UK and offers the chosen
few an unrivalled opportunity to exhibit alongside the great
and the good of the creative industries.
Vicky's area of specialism is illustration for children's
books and her work was short listed at the New Designers event
in July by a panel of judges which included representatives
from global brands such as DKNY, Dyson, Hallmark and the V&A.
"Since graduating from Falmouth, I have received
a fair amount of interest in my work and I am delighted to
have been selected as the only illustrator in this New Designers
showcase," explains Vicky. "This provides
me with a very exciting opportunity for my work to be viewed
by a highly influential audience, which will, hopefully, lead
to greater things."
Vicky injects a strong sense of imagination, composition
and colour into her delightful illustrations using acrylic,
gouache, colour pencil, sandpaper and Photoshop, and her work
can be viewed at www.newdesignersonline.co.uk.
